The grass is not always greener
by hollowheart ini have posted only a couple of times and remain a little elusive.
it is not because i dont want to mingle but more when i want to post on a little of my story, the words i want to write seem to mass with events and moments that are so overwhelming i cannot function anymore.
i get so writing my post before my heart seems to shudder, i get a pain in my core that removes any words i want to write, and at this point i log off........ i am 31 and it seems like yesterday i was among my "best friends" in the congregation, tim, steve, and mark.

Thanks for sharing man, this has been really interesting- I could definitely see how a situation like this would cause some serious turmoil for a young guy still living at home.
Are you now a witness again, is that why you're sharing this?

BUM WITNESSES
by The Searcher incan anyone save me the stress of listening to the self-appointed faithful & discreet slave for 3 hours, and give a clue as to roughly at what point in the proceedings was the derogatory term 'bum witnesses used, and by whom?
i'd really love to extract that comment and send it to a weakening witness, to highlight the judgmental arrogance and name-calling being displayed.. many thanks in advance folks!.

The Smoke and Mirrors of the Annual Meeting
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inthe annual meeting seems to boil down to an opening talk about an "exciting new" bible museum and a closing talk about an "exciting new" new world translation.
sandwiched in between were the wt summary, a talk about indoctrinating the children fast/furious, and some "trip down memory lane.".
why would this "spiritual feast" seem to be anticlimactic?

Billy, thanks for sharing- as always your posts are quite refreshing.

Annual Meeting Instructions to MS / Elders
by jw07 inhave any elders or ministerial servants here recieved any specific instructions regarding the annual meeting?
as an ms all i have been told to do is to arrive early to "await further instruction due to the sensitive nature of my assignment".
ironically all i can imagine after hearing that a few times is dispensing cyanide laced kool aid to attendees.

Bragging among JWs...
by ohnightdivine inposting about the wonderful preaching day on fb... posting about what they ate for lunch, snacks, dinner after preaching... posting about rubbing elbows with the co, do, etc... posting about getting into pioneer school... swooning over the latest gadgets, right after the meeting... being obsessed about what clothes to wear during the assemblies.... etc.. etc... being proud of having an sp, bethelite, etc relative... being unable to take pride in academic, secular, or other normal achievements leads to the above, i guess.. and it's not at all different from how "worldly" people behave these days... .

Bragging about how they're "blessed" with the only religion that truly honors God, not by word by action.

Talk out loud in public places...new preaching method? And go bags..
by snare&racket ini have been told of two things i had not heard of before.. one is a new preaching method, going to public places in a group e.g.
a cafe, and then talking of the topic quite loudly, for example maybe studying a watchtower or a chapter in a publication.
the idea being that people listen in and enquire etc etc.

As far as the speaking loudly in public I believe it must be a habit of a few zealous dubs. I live in the U.S. and that tactic was/is used regularly on public transportation- I used to do it all the time with my service partners.
The 2nd also is something that my last congregation encouraged- they wanted you to have supplies ready in case of an emergency, not specifically Armaggedon although it was heavily implied.
